The Rigzone team has added a new database to the Rigzone data service family - the Field Development Database. FDD contains every field in the Gulf of Mexico from bright spot to fields under development. If your business relies on timely information about Gulf of Mexico prospects then FDD is your solution.
Let's see an example by creating a map and report of all oil and gas fields currently under development.
First, click the New Map button from the GOMExplorer home page. Let's give our map a name and click New Map.
Now that we have a map created. Let's add a map layer and report from the FDD database. Click the Create New Layer tab.
From this page we want to select the Oil & Gas Fields link.
You can search FDD using several different search criteria. For this example, we are just interested in fields under development.
Let's highlight the blocks under development in orange. We can also select a label for the highlighted block. Let's use the Field Name. Now let's give our map layer and associated report a name.
You can either view the results in a tabular format or view the search results on a map. Let's start by viewing the data on the map we just created.
Let's zoom into the map and see which deepwater fields are highlighted. If you want more information about a field you can use the information tool and drill into the underlying data. If you want a tabular report of the data in your maps, simply switch to the Report View.
Select the report of interest from the Report View.
All of the data from our field search is presented. You can also export this data to Excel for further manipulation.
If you need to stay on top of the latest field development activities in the Gulf of Mexico then GOMExplorer and FDD are invaluable resources.
This concludes the Field Development Database tutorial.
