GOMExplorer gives you the ability to view all of the lease blocks
in the Gulf of Mexico, along with important information such as the operator. Using
GOMExplorer, you can create your own customized lease map layers based on detailed
search criteria such as operator, lease owners (minority owners), water depth, lease
status, block areas (i.e. - Alaminos Canyon), lease sale numbers and dates, blocks
(WC 512), and more.
Using GOMExplorer’s color coding and labeling capabilities, you can create some very
unique maps. For example, you can create a layer for all deepwater BP leases and
color the associated blocks green. You could then create another lease map layer
for Chevron and delineate their blocks red. The possibilities are endless.

Lease Map With Several Operators:
The following map was built in GOMExplorer by adding several leases layers to the
map. All active leases owned by Anadarko, BHP, BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil,
and HESS are illustrated on the map. The information tool was selected, and a BP
lease on South Marsh 201 was selected. A user can dive further into the lease details
by clicking the "view full details" link.
Lease Search Options:
As with every dataset available in GOMExplorer, users can choose from several search
criteria to customize layers to their specifications. The lease search form allows
you to search by operator, minority owners, block, lease number, and much more.
Lease Details:
By clicking the details link available from the map view or report view, you can
get detailed information on any lease in the Gulf of Mexico. The following screenshot
illustrates lease information on BP's Vermillion 401 lease that will expire on April
30, 2011 if there is not a discovery.
